Louis D. Scannura, D.D.S.

Dr. Scannura grew up on Long Island, New York, and received his BS degree in Biology from SUNY at Stony Brook in 1978, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the Columbia University School of Dental Medicine in 1982. His residency was completed in oral and maxillofacial surgery at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City in 1985.

He entered private practice in Springfield, Illinois in 1985. Dr. Scannura became Board Certified in 1988. He is currently He is currently Chairman of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at both St. John’s Hospital and Memorial Medical Center. Dr. Scannura is past President of the G.V. Black Dental Society. He serves as an examiner of the Office Anesthesia Evaluation program for the Illinois Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, he maintains memberships in numerous dental and oral and maxillofacial surgical associations. Dr. Scannura is also a Clinical Associate Professor with the SIU School of Medicine in the Department of Surgery.

Dr. Scannura has extensive experience in most areas of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with an emphasis on reconstruction, dental implants, dento-alveolar surgery and office anesthesia.
